The discovery of Augrabies Falls

Thursday, August 2, 2007

We head towards the canyon. Many waterfalls in the region. It's really beautiful but unfortunate that logging is a bit too present!
We visit Macmac Falls, Lisbon Falls, Berlin Falls, le God's Windows et le Pinacle, It's really worthwhile to visit this region, damage that the hike is almost impossible, too breathtaking!

Each site is more traditional booths, we take this opportunity to give gifts! But so many beautiful things and so little room in the backpack that is frustrating.
All these small sites visited, we continue on the R532, which runs along the canyon. We need to find a campsite now!
We found the gem, the Forever Resorts, located in the canyon itself! And hiking is possible.

It's nearly the start, we sort the car. It's amazing the crap that can be crammed into two months! The weather is bad, we stroll, doing nothing with a bottle of whiskey!

Hiking completely a different style. We descended into the Blyde River Canyon, Passing through dense vegetation. But really hard to do if you do the thrills and that we are not afraid to get dirty! At the beginning we follow a marked path, but a bit unconventional, we are soon out! Our goal was to reach the river at the bottom of the canyon. The task is not easier, by crawling between earth, through bogs, rivers, and all in at times very steep slope.

Over time we have left is unthinkable! We strive to continue, but the grunt and shrill cries from below we are abandoned. We reassure ourselves, anyway, we would not have time to continue to the nest of the river, yes must think again after!
