- The Rossing mine :
Rossing, a large uranium mine open pit is located in Namibia, southwest Africa which began in 1976.
It is located near the town of Aranda and 70 km from Swakopmund in the Namib Desert in the Erongo Region in Namibia.
- Valley of Welwitschia
must go to the office of Environment and Tourism of Swakopmund, which will issue a permit "pass" for a very moderate price.
The Welwitschia drive is about 140 km, the road begins with explanatory panels about 20km from Swakopmund.
It should also visit the Valley of the Moon, just next door and worth the detour, the valley of the Swakop lunar landscape of eroded hills and valleys carved by the Swakop.
Caution provide water and food, you can picnic at the end of the circuit where the oldest Welvitschia (site with tables) or farm oasis Goanikontes.
