Petrified Forest
Estimated at about 250 milionss years, fifty troncss fossils litter the ground.
You will discover this tourist curiosities across a footpath, a guide can explain this geological wonder.
The trunks can reach a hundred feet to a circumference of 5 meters.
The site was declared a national monument in 1950.
The forest is located 45 km west of Khorixas on the gravel runway C39.
The site visit is paid (ten dollars Namibia), and can be visited in 1 / 2 hour.

Twyfelfontein
The site of Twyfelfontein is one of the most interesting site in the region.
The classic ballad is accompanied by a guide and to discover engravings and rock paintings left by the first
Bushmen .
The age of the paintings is estimated between 5000 and 6000 years.
In 2007 the site was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage.
Twyfelfontein is located in the valley of Mount Huab and OJ, about 100 km from Khorixas, take the C39 towards the west and the D 2612 where you have to take a gravel path to the site (D 3214).
The entry fee is ten dollars Namibian, but managed by the NACOBTA (money back to the local Ummah).
It takes about 1 hour walk to the smallest way.
Vingerklip
The site Vingerklip (Rock Finger) is 50km east of Khorixas (track D2743).
As its name implies, is a monolith Vingerklip steep 35 meters high.
Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes
The mountain burned and organ pipes are just a few kilometers from each other.
To get there Take the same route as Twyfelfontein following the D3404.
The curiosities of these attractions are free.
Torra Conservancy
A sixty kilometers west of Khorixas is Damara Land.
Thanks to develloppement of ecotourism, the land aid in the fight against braconage and protects wildlife once threatened him.
